Ben Blanc was born in the American Midwest and credits his early environment as establishing his design landscape. After receiving his B.A. in Visual Studies he then received his Master of Fine Arts in furniture design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2004. Now working as an independent artisan/designer Ben collaborates with an array of clients to produce exciting new designs in both the art and design community. In Ben’s words, “I consider myself a freelance maker of things. My objects are a malleable conversation between art and design, material, process, pattern, texture, and color; each responding to the other in a continuous loop."

Ben’s objects have been exhibited at Salone Internazionale de Mobile in Milan, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, Edith Gallery in Koln, Germany, Ohio Museum of Craft, and the Max Lang Gallery in New York. His works have been featured throughout the world in numerous design publications including the New York Times, Dwell, Metropolitan Home, MacAddict, Monument, Casa, and Elle Décor.

In addition to his studio work, Ben serves as visiting faculty and critic at the Rhode Island School of Design.
